Jerusalem:

The One New Man

In Messiah, the dividing wall between Jew and Gentile is broken down. Paul calls the result "one new man" — a single, reconciled people built together as a dwelling for God.

Two hands clasped together in unity

The Wall That Divided

For centuries a wall stood between Jew and Gentile — a barrier of law, custom, and hostility. Paul writes that Messiah Himself is our peace, the One who broke down this dividing wall in His own flesh.

For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility.
– Ephesians 2:14

One New Man, Not a Replacement

The goal was never for one people to replace another, but for both to be reconciled into something new. The Gentile is grafted into the cultivated olive tree of Israel, sharing in its rich root without uprooting the natural branches.

Built Together

This new community is not merely tolerant coexistence; it is a temple. Jew and Gentile are joined together, growing into a holy dwelling place for God by the Spirit — a living sign of reconciliation to a divided world.

Conclusion

The one new man is the heart of the gospel’s reconciling power. Where there was hostility, there is now peace; where there was distance, there is now a shared home in God. May we live as the unity our Messiah died to create.
